What is IRAP?

IRAP is the Australian Governments Information Systems Registered Assessor Program, 

http://www.asd.gov.au/infosec/irap.htm 

conducted by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

IRAP Assessors are endorsed by ASD to conduct independent assessments of any ICT system, network and gateway, for compliance with the Commonwealth Government's Information Security Manual (ISM) http://www.asd.gov.au/infosec/ism/index.htm) , the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) http://www.protectivesecurity.gov.au/pspf/Pages/default.aspx) and other Australian government guidance.

IRAP Assessors conduct their assessments of ICT systems through the following activities:

  • Full system documentation reviews
  • Onsite evidence gathering
  • Interview with key staff
  • Evidence gathering against ISM controls and PSPF requirements.

As a member of the program, all IRAP Assessors must:

  • Maintain pre-requisite professional qualifications
  • Maintain all security clearance requirements
  • Conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner.
